Lago Escondido is beautiful small lake a short walk from the main road. There’s a wooden pier that’s very picturesque and thanks to that, can be very crowded and hard to enjoy as it deserves.

If the weather is still and the water is calm, the lake will mirror the mountain behind it. You can see I visited on a windy, cold winter day so no luck for me on that front.

If you get the dock to yourself, take advantage. Sit and relax. I arrived once with a tour group and had to patiently wait for a good moment for a photo. The upside is I did get to witness a proposal here!

From here you can walk the path that weaves through the forest to reach Bahia de los Troncos. It feels very much like you are walking through a fairy tale (see photo).
