When you travel across Argentina you should always look for the local empanada houses. This is where you'll try local flavor like a local (and on a budget). In Patagonia you can find empanadas with trout, lamb, deer, and wild boar.

In San Martin de los Andes, the empanada house of note is Nonino. Grab some to go for an easy dinner in your Airbnb/cabin or for a picnic lunch the following day at a lake or hike.

Nonino's must try flavors include deer and lamb. Seafood is on the menu as well, despite its mountain location far from the ocean (tread with caution). Of course, they also have the classic meat and chicken. Vegetarians can try veggie and cheese focused flavors.
