Vivero Chacra Danubio is a family run tulip field hidden away in a fairy tale forest in Bariloche. Pedro Smekal, the family's patriarch, traveled to Holland where he studied everything he could about the cultivation of tulip bulbs. But his inspiration came from his grandmother, who had tulips in her home country of Slovakia.

📍Where is it: Av. Campanario 5403, Península San Pedro, San Carlos de Bariloche

🕓 When can you visit: October (through the 19th in 2025), daily, from 3 pm to 7 pm. Confirm hours via their Instagram page.

⚠Important: The tulip field is only open during the month of OCTOBER. In 2025, you can visit the field until October 19!

Being on the Península San Pedro means that it is a little far off the beaten path. It's much easier to go with a car, just follow directions to this pin on Google Maps.

You can take public transport by taking bus line 22 but you'll have to get off early and walk about 20 minutes to reach the chacra. Hitchhiking is common in this region so you can try your luck with that to shave off some miles. Confirm with tourist information or your hotel for up to date bus timelines as it may not operate on the weekends.
Cost: $7,000 pesos Argentinos. Children 5 and (2025 price. If planning for 2026 know that this price in pesos will be out of date but will likely cost similar in dollars, around $5 US give or take). Bring cash.
How to visit: You'll turn off of the dirt road into the chacra to the parking lot. Here you'll pay your entry fee, and walk on a path through the forest to reach the two fields. It's about 200 meters to the first, then 500 meters to the second. There were a few tables in the second field if you'd like to bring a 🧉mate or a snack to enjoy with the flowers. You can purchase flowers to bring home (if you live in the area, obviously) and there is a small selection of homemade cakes for purchase by the slice.

What to do after? Paila Co Salón de Tè is just down the road with incredible cakes and even better views. They offer a 10% discount for cash payments. The timing works perfectly with the afternoon operating hours of the tulip field.
