Villa Traful is a small village on the shores of the lake that gives it its name - Lago Traful. It may be small but it is growing in popularity among Argentine tourists. There are a lot of rental cabins and campsites here in case you want to make this your home base.

There are also no shortage of restaurants on and near the lake to grab lunch as part of your 7 Lakes Route day trip. There is also a playground that you'll see just as you enter town that kept our kids happy in the car for at least another hour afterwards.

The road to Villa Traful from Ruta 40 is unpaved and very bumpy. You can do it in any size vehicle but you do need to go slowly and I always arrive with a headache. It's like a rite of passage to visit Traful. But good news, it is undergoing the slow process of being paved. If you visit in future you'll have a much more pleasant drive!
