European immigrants brought a lot more than pasta to Argentine food culture - they also gifted us Patagonian chocolate. When in Patagonia you should eat ALL of the chocolate, each town has its iconic shop.
In San Martin de los Andes that shop is Mamusia, the first chocolate shop in town operating for more than 50 years.
Mamusia was founded by a Polish couple - Mamusia and Tatus - who immigrated to Argentina in 1949, looking for a better life after WWII. Maya Ana Olszewska Fularski (a.k.a Mamusia, or mother) would make chocolate and chocolate covered fruits for her husband, family, and friends. In 1972 they officially opened the doors of Mamusia to the public and business has been booming ever since.
Today Mamusia is run by the third generation of the same family.
They now have an ice cream parlor in the back of the shop (with a different entrance). You can get a cone or kilo of ice cream to go or eat in their small garden.
