The Museo Provincial del Hombre y el Mar is a natural sciences museum in downtown Puerto Madryn.
⚠Temporarily Closed: Unfortunately, this museum has been "temporarily" closed since 2021 for reforms. If there is an update, then you'll see it here on their Instagram page first. Their most recent post at the moment is from 2021 announcing this temporary closure.
🐋 This museum's focus and permanent exhibit is about man's relationship with the sea. Exhibits cover the different interactions of humans with this environment over the years from the indigenous communities (the Tehuelches) to European immigrants and naturalists.
🏠 Historic architecture: If you can't go inside, at least you can admire its exterior. This building was built around 1917 by Agustín Pujol, one of Puerto Madryn's earliest settlers. Materials were imported from Europe, like ironwork, the floors, and the furniture. It was constructed atop a hill with expansive sea views. Pujol's wife often hosted teas for friends in the tower.
