Plaza Flores (aka Plaza Pueyrredón), is the 2nd of 3 plots of land donated for public use (the third was for what was to be the town’s slaughterhouses) by Ramón Francisco Flores. This donation founded the town of Flores (now a neighborhood within the city).

This park is named after Juan Martín de Pueyrredón, a politician and military leader who took part in the fight for independence. Today the park has a regular market and offers the best view of the Basilica across the street.

Over the years it’s served a number of functions like campgrounds for the troops, a rest stop for horse carriages and even executions.
