The Rio Bonito Waterfall is a short walk from the road on Ruta 66 just before you reach Cerro Bayo. The short hike takes about 30 minutes total, calling it a hike is a generous term. It really is just a short walk but the return IS all uphill so the difficulty level makes it count as a very easy hike, in my book.

It is just 200 meters, the length of two city blocks. Parking is free and easy on the road. The walk to the falls is easy and all downhill. My toddler loved this walk, running alongside the tiny creek and sending sticks down as boats the entire way.

At the end of the trail you'll reach a viewing deck of the waterfall pouring down into the river below.

Is this hike worth it? The walk is beautiful but it's short. Honestly, I wouldn't drive all the way up here just for this waterfall. Go as part of your visit to Cerro Bayo. If you want a short and easy hike, I'd instead recommend this Rio Bonito hike instead.
