Villa Tacul is an excellent beach access along the Circuito Chico. It's the perfect spot to relax with a mate and soak up the sunshine on a picturesque day. You can stop for photos and a snack as part of your Circuito Chico day trip or make it the destiantion, spending the entire afternoon here sunbathing, swimming and relaxing.
How to get here: At kilometer 29 you’ll see a sign to turn off for Villa Tacul, take the weaving dirt road uphill and back down again
History: The name Villa Tacul is in honor of Ismael Tacul, whose family was one of the many indigenous tribes removed from their land in the 1950's by the national park. Some of his children have returned here in 2007, creating a small community of Mapuche people repopulating their land.
Along with beautiful beaches the area also features the remains of a hotel from the 1940s.
Hike: There are short hikes here of varying difficulties - hike to the Cerro Llao Llao viewpoint (more difficult) or to Puente Romano and the Tacul viewpoint (easy). Read more here and I also attached a photo of the trail map I took on site. Plan ahead if you want to hike as the trailhead is along the road (versus driving straight to the beach as mentioned earlier).
