Did you know there are dolphins off the Patagonian coast? The tonina dolphins that swim in the waters off of Puerto Rawson near Puerto Madryn are small, black and white dolphins very unlike what you may be imagining.

You can book a boat tour from Puerto Rawson to see these playful dolphins. It only lasts an hour and a half and is easy to combine with other activities to make a full day excursion from Puerto Madryn. Typically, tours like this one also visit Punta Tombo's penguin colony.

This is a family friendly activity with no age limit.

When: The season starts in July and continues through the following April. The time of day depends according to the tides.

Wind: The wind in Patagonia is no joke, so be flexible. If it's too windy they may have to cancel. Knowing this I actually booked us 3 days on the beach here (we had nothing but time this particular trip) and we had the unfortunate luck to arrive with an insane wind storm. There were no outings for our entire 3 days. Our situation is very rare, don't worry. But it is not unheard of for trips to be rescheduled.
