Hatcher Pass is a stunning mountain pass and adventure area located in Alaska, known for its breathtaking views and outdoor adventures. This is seriously one of our favorite places to adventure in the entire state! Nestled in the Talkeetna Mountains, it offers a mix of rugged terrain and lush landscapes, making it a popular spot for hiking and skiing and snowboarding in the winter too. The area is rich in history, with remnants of old mining operations that give visitors a glimpse into the past at Independence Mine. People flock to Hatcher Pass not just for the activities but also to soak in the natural beauty, whether it's during the epic summer months or the snowy winter season. With its winding roads and scenic overlooks, it's definitely a favorite destination for both locals and tourists looking to escape into nature.

NOTE: We listed it as a free location and it is other than parking. As with many parks and recreation areas in Alaska, there is a small parking fee paid by a credit card station at each lot.

DIRECTIONS: The google maps address takes you to the actual pass location, but the entire area is known for it's hiking and exploring options! Be sure to go to nearby Independence Mine and also explore the many visible hiking trails all around! TIP: if you come in August, the hillsides are FULL of blueberries ripe for the picking!
