Bang Kachao, an artificial island on the Chao Phraya River, is the perfect place to escape the city’s chaos. Despite its proximity to central Bangkok, it feels more like a village in rural Thailand.

It’s a great place for nature lovers, with peaceful trails to wander in Sri Nakhon Khuean Khan Park and Botanical Garden, and plenty of birdlife and wildlife to discover.

To get there, take a boat from Wat Khlong Toei Nok Pier, which costs just 20 baht each way. We love walking in the area, but if you prefer, you can rent bikes near the pier once you reach Bang Kachao.
