Parking/Track:

This hut is near the start of the Nevis Road at 1000m above sea level. It is also the start of the Welcome Rock Trail - a privately owned walking track that you can overnight on.

Hut:

 The hut is historic, and thus very rustic, and cold in winter. The mattresses are not the regular DOC mattresses, rather regular old spring mattresses. The hut can unfortunately be left in not the best state being so close to the road.

Recommendations:

 The views are stunning, but this is also a great spot to stay the night before heading out early on the Welcome Rock trail.
