Hverir is a geothermal area and has just like almost everything in Iceland, a volcanic origin. At Hverir you find many sulfur vapors, fumaroles and bubbling mud pots. When walking around you really get the feeling like you’re exploring another planet, maybe Mars? We have to mention that this place smells badly like rotten eggs, it’s the typical smell of sulfur dioxide. Even though it smells awful, it makes the experience complete.
