D. L. Bliss State Park is located on the western shore of Lake Tahoe, just north of Emerald Bay State Park. The park features a long, beautiful stretch of shoreline with Lester Beach at the north end and Calawee Cove at the south end, perfect for swimming, paddleboarding, or kayaking. To get there, drive down Lester Beach Road off Highway 89 and park in the lots. There is a day-use parking fee of $12.

D. L. Bliss is also where you can pick up the Rubicon Trail, which runs along the shoreline with amazing views and ends at Emerald Bay. You can start at either Emerald Bay or D. L. Bliss. The park also has a campground right on the water, offering a rare lakeside camping experience.

In the off-season, the beaches feel quiet and secluded, but in summer, it can get busy with both visitors and boats anchoring offshore. The best times to visit are May, September, or October when it’s a bit quieter.
