Use this simple fuel price map to compare gas stations and avoid overpaying on your road trip.

Iceland
Fuel in Iceland is expensive, and prices can vary quite a bit between gas stations. Before filling up, use Gasvaktin, a simple website that compares fuel prices around the country.
Youâll see gas stations marked by price:
đą Green = cheapest
đĄ Yellow = mid-range
đŽ Red = most expensive
If you open the map on your phone and allow location access, it will show you the cheapest stations near you. This is especially useful on a road trip when you donât want to overpay without realizing it.
The cheapest fuel in Iceland is usually at Costco in ReykjavĂk, but you need a valid Costco membership card to use it.
If you donât have one, your best strategy is to do larger fill-ups in bigger towns and areas like ReykjavĂk, Borgarnes, Laugarbakki, Akureyri, and Selfoss. Smaller rural stations are often more expensive.
Some car rental companies also provide fuel discount tags for specific gas station chains. These can save you a few krĂłnur per liter. Some companies, like Orkan, may allow you to add a discount card to your digital wallet, while other options may require an Icelandic kennitala, which usually makes them unavailable to tourists.
đĄPractical tip
Save the Gasvaktin map to your phoneâs home screen so you can check prices quickly while traveling.
iPhone: Open the website, tap the share button, then tap Add to Home Screen.
Android: Open the website, tap the three dots in the top right corner, then tap Add to Home screen.
I donât include every gas station in this guide because the map is focused on curated places worth visiting. For fuel planning, Gasvaktin is simply the better tool.
