It's about a 15 min walk from the Zermatt train station to this viewpoint on a hill on the edge of the town, where you can capture both the village and Matterhorn peak. Particularly nice at sunrise if you can manage to get up that early.

This is a great option if you are on a tight budget and can't afford to ride up the expensive mountain transport every day. It's also good in fall if the cable car you want to ride isn't open at the moment.
