Kleine Scheidegg is situated at the foot of the world-famous Eiger North Face in the Bern Region of Switzerland. This beautiful winter trail in Grindelwald is for both sledding and hiking, descending the mountain below the impressive Eiger peak.

Since this mild sledding route is not too steep or dangerous, it’s a good choice for beginners and families. Plus it’s accessed by a cogwheel mountain train, not a gondola, so good for those who don’t like heights.

This is a one way trail starting at Kleine Scheidegg. The trail goes 5km to the Alpiglen station, where you can catch the train up to do it again or down to Grindelwald.

The Eiger Run winter trail (#64) is multi-use for sledding and hiking. Depending on snow conditions, you may not be able to sled and/or hike some of these sections. If the section is open for hiking but not sledding, that means the trail may not have enough snow on that section to support sledding.

How to get there

You reach this trail with a cogwheel mountain train starting at Grundstrasse 67, 3818 Grindelwald. There is metered parking next to the station. If you are arriving in Grindelwald by train. You can get off at the Grindelwald Terminal station, then a short walk over to the Grindelwald Grund mountain train.
