This short hike starts in the Zermatt village and walks up to the Gorner Gorge. For a small fee, you can walk on a 200-meter long elevated wooden walkway through the gorge. In fall, the surrounding forest has beautiful fall colors. After the gorge, you loop back to Zermatt, passing charming alpine huts with the occasional view of the Matterhorn peak.

If the Gorner Gorge is closed when you visit Zermatt, you can simply bypass the 200m of wooden walkways and still enjoy the hike.

Hike: easy • 1.5 hr • 2.75 km • 100 m up/down

Open: Gorner Gorge usually closes end of second week of October
