The Schäfler day hike in Appenzell is an adventure day trip unlike any other. Located near the village of Wassenrauen, the gondola takes you up to the mountain station Ebenalp and a trail brings you to the iconic Schäfler ridge. Enjoy the scenic views along the hike, from the famous Wildkirchli to the characteristic lookout right next to the refuge, Berggasthaus Schäfler. The picturesque, tree-covered ridge offers plenty of photo-op opportunities, and the hike can be completed in about 2 hours round trip. Make sure to consider a detour to visit Wildkirchli or you can also combine it with visiting Aescher.
