Does the name ‘Arco della Pace’ remind you of something else? Of course it resembles the Arc de Triomphe of Paris! And you know why? Because this place marks the end of the Strada del Sempione into Milan, which linked the two cities through the Alps.

Milan’s current gate, the Arch of Peace, was built under the Napoleonic rule in the 19th century by Luigi Cagnola. The arch is of neoclassical style and is engraved with the important historical events in Europe as well as classical mythology. It’s got free admission an no opening times, so you can go there at any time you want.
