Have you ever been catfished? Like when you’re talking to someone online and you’re not quite sure if they’re real, or you turn up to a Tinder date and they’re slightly different from their profile picture. Booking hotels in Sri Lanka is that kind of vibe. 

Actually, the entire reason we found Ahangama all those years ago was a particularly bad catfishing experience at a hotel in Mirissa. We booked a deluxe double beachfront room with a balcony and ocean views. The pictures looked great, reality was a bit different.

We’re thankful for the experience. We never really vibed with Mirissa and it forced us to move on and explore the rest of the South Coast where we found our favourite town on the island, Ahangama.
