Light Pollution is low in the Rockies and with areas like Jasper being a Dark Sky Preserve, it's a great place to stargaze.
Stargazing in Banff, Jasper, Canmore, and Yoho is truly exceptional due to their status as protected wilderness areas with minimal light pollution. Jasper National Park, in particular, is a designated Dark Sky Preserve offering crystal-clear night skies where you can see the Milky Way, constellations, shooting stars, and even the northern lights in the right conditions.
Banff and Yoho also offer spectacular stargazing, especially from viewpoints like Lake Minnewanka, Bow Lake, or Emerald Lake. This is a fantastic night time activity - we've done it multiple times on our trips just because we love looking at the our galaxy!
