Mistaya Canyon is a quick roadside stops located just off the Icefields Parkway about 5 minutes south of Saskatchewan River Crossing. It's a short trail leads to a beautiful canyon carved by thousands of years of rushing glacial water.

From the parking area, it’s an easy 1 km walk down a wide gravel path to the canyon, with a mild descent that makes it suitable for most visitors. As you approach, you'll hear the sound of the Mistaya River and then the canyon opens up beneath your feet. There's a sturdy bridge which gives you a head-on view of the swirling water below - a favorite spot for photographers.

If you’re comfortable, you can explore a bit beyond the bridge — there are worn paths along the canyon, and large rocks where you can sit and chill. Just be cautious: there are no railings, and the rocks can be slippery, especially when wet or snowy.

There are no washrooms or facilities here, so plan accordingly.
