Pyramid Lake is one of the best spots to unwind and take an iconic picture in Jasper. This glacier-fed lake is at the base of the massive Pyramid Mountain. It is perfect for relaxing, paddling, picnicking, or just soaking in some classic scenery without the effort of a hike.
It is just a 10-minute drive from Jasper townsite and super easy to access. There’s a scenic road that winds its way up from town, offering glimpses of the lake through the trees, and ends at several parking areas along the shoreline. You'll also pass the beautiful Patricia Lake on the way.
One of the highlights is Pyramid Island, a small, tree-covered island reached by a wooden footbridge. It’s a great spot for photos, a quick stroll, or a peaceful moment by the water. The backdrop of Pyramid Mountain, especially at sunrise or sunset, is stunning — the reflection in the calm water is an Instagramer's dream!
In summer, you can rent canoes, kayaks, or paddleboards from the Pyramid Lake Resort and explore the quiet bays and shoreline. In winter, it’s a great spot for skating, cross-country skiing, or snowshoeing.
There’s free parking at multiple spots along the lake, including near Pyramid Island and the Pyramid Lake Resort, which also has a bistro, restrooms, and rentals. This is also a particularly great place for stargazing at night.
