Skógafoss is a stunningly beautiful, 60 meter high waterfall located in the south of Iceland near the former coastline. The sheer size of its 25 meter width produces an impressive spray of water which often produces a breathtaking single or double rainbow. History claims that somewhere behind the falls is the long-lost buried treasure left behind by the first Viking settler in the area: Þrasi Þórólfsson. For an up close and personal experience with this awe inspiring sight, visitors can take a 527-step staircase to the top of the falls. Whether you are planning a cinematic escapade or just out for some fresh air, make sure Skógafoss is on your list!
