popular places like Pico do Arieiro, Rabacal, Seixal beach or Levada das 25 fontes can get very busy during peak hours - especially in the morning. Try to visit outside of peak hours to avoid getting stuck in traffic!
My recommendations:
stay in peaceful, low traffic areas
avoid overnight stays in exposed or crowded areas
