The Queimadas Forest Park is located in the Santana region on Madeira’s north coast. It’s the perfect spot for nature lovers, and I personally love coming here for a hike. This park offers a variety of flowers and plants, including species that are characteristic of the UNESCO-protected Laurissilva forest.

There is a large (paid) parking area next to the tea house, but keep in mind that the road leading there can be quite challenging. It is very narrow, fairly steep uphill, two-way, and the bends have limited visibility. It’s advisable to drive slowly both up and down and to honk when approaching a blind curve. Payment for the parking can be made afterwards at the reception to the right of the tea house.

You can enjoy a relaxing walk here, called "um caminho para todos", go birdwatching, or take on a more challenging hike—the PR9 Levada do Caldeirão Verde (still my personal favourite). However, this hike can be a bit challenging for those with a fear of heights.

The charming tea house Casa de Abrigo das Queimadas, which you can also see in the photos, serves delicious homemade cakes and coffee - and has already made its way into many Instagram pictures!
