Staying at Dar Alouini feels a little like stepping into a secret corner of Kairouan. This boutique guesthouse is set inside a restored traditional house, with all the details you’d expect, including carved wooden doors, patterned tiles, arched walkways, and a stunning courtyard. But don't worry; despite its old look, it is an incredibly comfortable hotel.

The rooftop terrace is a highlight for us in particular. It's perfect for catching sunset over the medina rooftops after a day exploring the Great Mosque or the souks below. Breakfast is absolutely delicious.
