Magul Maha Viharaya is an ancient Buddhist temple located in Lahugala, Sri Lanka. Legend has it that King Kavantissa or King Dhatusena built the temple where he married Princess Viharamahadevi. The ruins of the temple include an image shrine, Bodhi Tree, stupa, and unique moonstone. The site is surrounded by the Lahugala National Park, home to elephants, leopards, and endemic birds. Visitors can explore the remnants of a palace, monastery, and other structures spread across the 10,000-acre complex. Overall, Magul Maha Viharaya offers a glimpse into the rich history and natural beauty of Sri Lanka.
