“Poza del Obispo” means Bishop’s Pool, named in connection with a local tradition about a bishop surviving a shipwreck off this coast in the 1700s.

La Poza del Obispo features a natural tidal pool created by rock formations that act as a barrier between the open Atlantic.

The rocky barrier slows the waves, creating a sheltered “pool” where many people enjoy sitting in the water, especially on calm days. When the swell is bigger, waves crash dramatically over the rocks, spraying water inside the pool and creating a natural wave pool which is super fun to play in!

Close by: The beach sits right beside the historic Arecibo Lighthouse and Historical Park which you can also check out while you're there!
