The Puente de los Suspiros, or Bridge of Sighs, is the main attraction of Barranco. This wooden footbridge, built in the 19th century, is surrounded by colorful houses, cobblestone streets, and vibrant street art. According to local legend, if you hold your breath while crossing the bridge for the first time and make a wish, it will come true.

The atmosphere surrounding the bridge itself is really fun. Musicians often play nearby, murals brighten every corner, and from the bridge you can wander down to the Bajada de los Baños path that leads toward the ocean. It felt like stepping into a postcard of Lima’s most bohemian neighborhood.

Pro Tip: Visit in the late afternoon to enjoy the golden light on Barranco’s colorful buildings. Stick around after dark when the bridge and surrounding streets light up, and the neighborhood comes alive with bars, cafés, and music.
