On the scenic route between Cusco and Puno, the village of Raqchi hides one of the most unique Inca sites: the Temple of Wiracocha. This temple, dedicated to the creator god of the Incas, once stood as one of the largest roofed structures in the empire. Today you can still see its massive adobe walls and stone foundations, unlike anything else you’ll encounter in Peru.

The site also has Inca storehouses (colcas), living quarters, and ceremonial spaces that make it feel like a full religious complex. What we loved most was how quiet it was compared to other ruins; it felt like stepping back in time without the crowds.
