The Cloisters of the Company are a quiet, elegant corner of Arequipa’s historic center. Built in the 17th century by the Jesuits, the cloisters feature graceful volcanic stone arches surrounding a central courtyard, with small shops and cafés tucked into the arcades.

This was one of those places that invited us to slow down. We loved strolling the stone corridors, admiring the carvings, and then sitting in the courtyard just soaking in the atmosphere. On our visit, a musician was playing the pan flute, and the sound drifting through the arches made it feel even more magical.

It’s less busy than the main square, making it a perfect spot to relax, shop for crafts, or enjoy a coffee.

Pro Tip: Visit in the late afternoon when the light is soft and the cloisters are especially peaceful.
