Pallay Punchu, sometimes called the “Rainbow Tapestry Mountain,” is the newest of Peru’s colorful mountain discoveries. Its sharp, jagged ridges streaked with rainbow hues make it look completely different from Vinicunca or Palccoyo.

It’s also the most remote and least visited of the three, which means fewer crowds and a more off-the-beaten-path feel. Getting there requires a long drive and a tough hike, but the dramatic ridgelines and solitude are worth it for adventurers.

Pro Tip: This is the least developed of the rainbow mountain options, so go with a reliable tour operator like Salkantay Trekking. Bring snacks, plenty of water, and be ready for a very long day.
