The Malecón is a six-mile stretch of parks and pathways that runs along the clifftops of Miraflores, overlooking the Pacific Ocean. It’s one of Lima’s most beautiful and relaxing spaces, with walking trails, bike paths, paragliders soaring overhead, and plenty of spots to just sit and take in the view. Along the way you’ll pass sculptures, gardens, and some of the city’s most famous landmarks (like Love Park and the lighthouse).

Walking the Malecón quickly became a daily ritual in Lima. It’s where we came to stretch our legs, breathe the salty air, and catch the sunset. And it’s just as popular with locals as it is with travelers. Whether you want a morning jog, a romantic stroll, or a peaceful bench to watch the waves, the Malecón is Lima at its best.

Pro Tip: Yes, come for sunset. The view of the sun dropping into the Pacific, with paragliders gliding by and the cliffs glowing orange, is one of the most magical sights in Lima. But try to walk away from Love Park where it is most crowded. There is a lot more space to spread out further down the Malecón.
