Vík í Mýrdal is a town located on the main road around south Iceland. Despite being small, it's the largest settlement in the area for over 70 km and has been growing a lot over the years. It has many good restaurants and even a clothing store if you need. It's a great location to use as base as you explore the south coast or as a pit stop as you make your way further east. It has a beautiful black sand beach that has way less visitors than Reynisfjara on the other side of the mountain.

QUICK NOTES:

  • What it is: A town on the South Coast with many restaurants and hotels in a great location.

  • Best season: Any.

  • Best time of day: Any.

  • Nice to know: If you're exploring the south coast or going even further east, this is a great place to stay.
