Cute little waterfall oasis in the Westfjords

When hiking with my wife and firstborn in the Westfjords we came across this little oasis with a waterfall, not too far away from a roadside restaurant called Flókalundur. You can either park at Flókalundur and follow the road or the canyon to the west until you reach the waterfall (about 1km / 0.6 miles) OR you can park at a monument just north of the waterfall (Steinwächter on Google Maps). Wherever you start, I do recommend exploring the small canyon there too - very interesting!

QUICK NOTES:

  • What it is: A hidden waterfall that's pretty easy to access in the Westfjords.

  • Best season: Summer.

  • Best time of day: Any.

  • Nice to know: If you're into cold water dipping then this might be the perfect spot for you. And if you're not... it's still a pretty pretty place!
