A high quality and unique Icelandic sea salt company, located in the remote Westfjords of Iceland. Saltverk uses geothermal energy to slowly harvest high-quality salt with unique flavors like birch smoked, arctic thyme, and seaweed. At their factory, you can both witness the making of the salt and get tours of the process as well as buy some of their unique variations of salt.

QUICK NOTES:

  • What it is: A unique and sustainable sea salt factory in Reykjanes, Westfjords, where you can witness the process and buy some high quality products.

  • Best season: Summer.

  • Best time of day:

    • The factory store is open from 9am - 11am and 12pm - 4pm.

    • Tours are available every day from June 15th to August 15th, at 10 am and 3 pm (no reservations necessary). Tours are not offered during winter unless by prior arrangement.

  • Nice to know: If you visit during winter, and you need to leave your car behind, make sure you leave it on the opposite site of where the horses happen to be. I'm speaking from experience when I tell you that apparently they like gnawing cars...
