Swimming pools are an integral part of Icelandic culture and has been ever since people started gathering in natural hot springs in the past. There's always 1-3 hot tubs and that's where people meet an talk about everything from the weather to politics. Very often you'll also find a cold tub and of course a half or full length swimming pool. You can find them all over Iceland and I highly recommend you pay them a visit whenever you can!

QUICK NOTES:

  • What it is: The local swimming pool in Stykkishólmur, Snæfellsnes peninsula.

  • Best season: Any! Hot tubs are the perfect way to get warm during winter.

  • Opening hours: Please check the website.

  • Nice to know: Usually you can rent swim wear and a towel at the swimming pool. Admission is FREE for kids.
