Seltún is a geothermal spot in Krýsuvík on the Reykjanes Peninsula. It is home to numerous mud pots, steaming vents, hot springs and multi-coloured mineral deposits that provide an incredible sight to behold. Due to Iceland's tectonic plates pulling apart, magma is brought close to the surface of the earth, providing the perfect conditions for the extensive and fascinating geothermal activity seen here.

QUICK NOTES:

  • What it is: A geothermal area near Lake Kleifarvatn, Reykjanes.

  • Best season: Any.

  • Best time of day: Any.

  • Nice to know: Soak it all in but be careful - if it's bubbling, it's hot!
