Experience an otherworldly glacier walk on Sólheimajökull, an impressive glacier tongue marked with black ash from volcanic eruptions. A guided tour requires equipment, including crampons and an ice axe, to safely explore the crevasses and ice formations.

If you don't want to do a tour, you can easily walk from the parking lot to the base of the glacier on your own, in about 10-15 minutes. Enjoy from the viewing area or walk down to the base and edge of the lake.
