The Aletsch Glacier is the largest glacier in the Alps. Covering 171 square kilometers and stretching 20 kilometers long, there are many viewpoints to admire it from, but there is one spot to get really close to it without having to book a tour.

This is the Gletscherstube Marjälen. Here you can walk up directly to the glacier and get really close. It's so magical to see this VAST glacier from up close.

See the details for the hike in the seperate pinpoint.

Note: The very last bit to get even closer to the glacier is quite an adventure to go down to and also there is a little river flowing along the way. So if the weather looks sketchy, don't go down there under any circumstances and observe the glacier from above (like in my picture :) ) The stones can also get very slippery when wet, so to avoid getting caught by sudden floods of water or just the risk of not getting up anymore because it's too slippery, make sure to keep track of the weather situation and then you're good to go!
