How Many Days Do You Need
And how to use the itineraries in this guide.

The Alps, Germany
As many as you can, honestly. The Alps are huge and it always feels like you've only scratched the surface. But as a rough guide: 3 days is enough for a first impression, around 7 days lets you combine different hikes at a relaxed pace, and 10 to 14 days lets you dive in across multiple regions and landscapes.
A few things to keep in mind for the itineraries in this guide. They're a starting point, not a fixed plan, so adjust them to your energy and style. You don't have to change accommodation every night; basing in one area and doing day trips often beats constant repacking. Swap any hike for something easier or take a rest day when you need it. Weather varies a lot between regions, so if one area looks bad, check a nearby one, and remember the mountains can be completely different from the valley. Distances are usually shorter than they look, but you'll cross borders between Germany, Austria and Switzerland, where tolls or vignettes apply. These plans are built for summer, and the time of day changes everything, so plan around sunrise and sunset where you can.
