Sakinhas is a small, rugged north-coast spot on Madeira that feels more like a local rock beach than a tourist facility, so go prepared: wear sturdy water shoes for the volcanic rocks, expect choppy water and no lifeguard, and plan to access it by car with limited parking and a short walk. It is best for quick stops, photography, or dipping your feet rather than long swims or sunbathing; bring a windproof layer and check the swell before getting in. There are few if any on-site services, so pack water, snacks, and a towel, and combine your visit with a nearby village or viewpoint to make the trip worthwhile.
