A crucial stop for adventurers heading into the North Cascades, the Wilderness Information Center in Marblemount is where you can obtain backcountry permits, get up-to-date trail conditions from rangers, and purchase maps. It serves as the primary planning hub for overnight excursions into the area known as the American Alps, ensuring visitors are well-prepared. The center has seasonal operations, generally from May to October, though permits can be self-issued year-round at an outdoor station when the center is closed for winter.
