If you’re heading to Playas Negras clear ocean pools, Restaurante Las Olas is your must stop 😍.
When the tide is low, the ocean pulls back and leaves behind calm, crystal-clear pools that are perfect for swimming and relaxing. The water is surprisingly clear, and the setting is genuinely beautiful.
Very important to know before you go:
To access the natural pools area, there’s a $10 minimum consumption per person in the restaurant. So plan to eat or drink there.
We had lunch and it was actually a great experience. Rodolfo loved the oysters and according to him, they were super fresh and delicious. If you’re into seafood, you’ll enjoy it here. I’m not the biggest sea food person, so I went for a breaded fish with salad and rice, and it was very, very good. Simple, fresh, and well done 👌.
Timing is everything here. The tide changes a lot. When it’s high tide, the waves are rough and you can’t really swim safely in the pools. The best window is usually between 10 AM and 3 PM, depending on the tide. We went around 11 AM and it was perfectly calm water, the ocean pulled back, and ideal conditions for swimming.
If you catch it at the right time, this place is a beautiful combination of good seafood and one of the nicest natural pool experiences on the eastern coast 😍
