More Information:

The track loops around Dove Lake, offering some of the best front-row views of Cradle Mountain. Highlights include the Boat Shed, Glacier Rock, Ballroom Forest, and open alpine landscapes that look stunning in any season.

This is one of Tasmania’s most photogenic trails, perfect for capturing mountain reflections, dramatic weather, and lush mossy forest. You may spot wombats, echidnas, and native birds along the way.

Sturdy footwear, warm layers, and waterproof gear are recommended — Cradle Mountain is known for rapidly changing weather, even on otherwise clear days.

Tips for Walkers:

  • Early morning or late afternoon offers the best light and fewer crowds.

  • Weather can turn quickly — pack a waterproof jacket even on sunny days.

  • The shuttle system is mandatory during peak months, so plan your timing around bus schedules.
