  • Norway is one of the most cashless countries in the world — you don’t need to exchange currency. Even bathrooms, small kiosks, and rural ferries accept cards.

  • ATMs: Available but rarely necessary.

  • Tipping culture: Not required. Rounding up a bill or leaving ~5–10% is appreciated in restaurants but never expected.

  • Budgeting: Expect high prices: $20–30 for a burger, $8–10 for a beer, $150+ for a mid-range hotel room. Many travelers offset costs by eating supermarket meals or cooking in Airbnbs.
