Chishakuin Temple park in Kyoto is a hidden gem known for its stunning gardens and beautiful painted screens. Established in 1598, this temple is a peaceful oasis away from the bustling city. The main garden, inspired by Mt. Rozan in China, features azaleas blooming in late April and early May. Visitors can admire the intricate panel paintings thought to be the work of Hasegawa Tohaku and his son, Kyuzo. Don't miss the Green Leaf Festival on June 15, celebrating founder Kukai with a mesmerizing fire ceremony connecting heaven and earth.
